We ask for an immediate and official apology from co-producers Coen Brothers and author N.Hawley for the reckless and irresponsible use of the "Fadda" last name in association with the Italian mafia.

The fourth season of Tv series Fargo co-produced by the Coen Brothers and written by Noah Hawley uses fictional characters described as the "Fadda" (last name) family. The "Fadda" family is depicted in the TV series as a family of mobsters, a mafia family that is the ruling crime organization in Kansas City, Missouri.

Co-producer and authors probably do not know that "Fadda" is a Sardinian (only Sardinian) last name that has nothing to do with Southern Italian Mafia. Sardinians who immigrated to the US were workers, intellectuals, inventors ( e.g., Francesco Antonio Broccu) and political activists (e.g., Michele Schirru), not mobsters!

It would have been more appropriate to make movies to celebrate the heroic lives of these Sardians instead of negligently associating our people with the Italian Mafia. 

Sardinia is an island that does not have local mafias. The mafia is a criminal phenomenon with roots in the south of Italy which has been exported to other areas of Italy, Europe and the Americas. With the reckless use of the Fadda last name authors and producers have hurt, insulted, offended, and humiliated an entire community and an entire people. As Sardinians, we are proud of the fact that no mafias have been/are/will put roots in Sardinia. We do not want to be associated in any way with this criminal phenomenon. A family of Italian mobsters with the last name "Fadda" is a cultural obscenity that violates our national Sardinian pride and identity.

To co-producers and author we ask the following question to ponder:

Who gives you the entitlement to use the "Fadda" last name in association with the Southern Italian Mafia? Do you realize that you are culturally appropriating and deforming reality and insulting an entire nation? 

As such, we ask for an immediate and official apology from co-producers Coen Brothers and author N.Hawley for the reckless and irresponsible use of the Sardinian "Fadda" last name in association with the Italian mafia.

"Chiediamo scuse immediate e ufficiali ai coproduttori Coen e all'autore Noah Hawley per l'uso sconsiderato e irresponsabile del cognome Fadda in associazione con la mafia italiana. La famiglia Fadda è raffigurata nella serie tv come una famiglia di mafiosi di Kansas City, in Missouri, dove la mafia è l’organizzazione criminale dominante. Il coproduttore e gli autori probabilmente non sanno che Fadda è un cognome sardo - solo sardo - che non ha nulla a che fare con la mafia del sud Italia. I sardi immigrati negli Stati Uniti erano lavoratori, intellettuali, inventori - ad esempio, Francesco Antonio Broccu - e attivisti politici - ad esempio, Michele Schirru -, non mafiosi.
