Dear Friends and Community Members,
I am writing to bring your attention to a deeply concerning incident that took place at a Melbourne swimming centre. A 19-year-old male lifeguard was allegedly assaulted by a group of eight teenagers while on duty, and I believe it is essential for us to raise awareness and support for the safety of those who work tirelessly to ensure our well-being in public spaces.
As reported by the media, the lifeguard had approached the group of teens to address their dangerous behavior in the pool, including performing stunts that could potentially endanger other swimmers. Despite his efforts to maintain a safe environment, he was met with violence and aggression.
This situation highlights the importance of fostering a culture of respect and appreciation for those who work hard to keep our community safe. Lifeguards, along with other frontline workers, play a critical role in ensuring our well-being, and they deserve our support and protection.
In light of this incident, I would like to share a petition with you that aims to strengthen safety measures and support for lifeguards in our community. I encourage you to sign the petition and share it with others, as every voice matters in bringing about positive change.
Together, let's show our solidarity with the dedicated individuals who work to keep us safe, and let's work towards creating an environment where everyone is treated with respect and kindness.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
[T.Murphy)
