WA 150s section along Rocky Point is notoriously dangerous for cyclists. Tragic accidents and near misses have steadily increased in this area, due largely to inadequate pavement for cyclists along the highway. Notably, the rise of wine tourism has added to the risks, as increased instances of driving under the influence have been observed. The current infrastructure inadequately separates cyclists from vehicular traffic, putting lives in peril. 

We call upon the city to use it's state and county connections to acknowledge and address a responsibility towards the safety of both visitors and locals who use this road, whether as a commuter or recreational cyclist. Short of barring cyclists from using this section of the 150, by creating a safe, dedicated biking path along Rocky Point on the 150, we can mitigate the risk of accidents, promote healthy forms of transportation, and potentially save lives. This is particularly critical in light of the apparent risk, and the increasing trend of tourism in the area which consequently increases traffic volume.
