The Issue

For years, those of us lucky enough to live in the bountiful community of Redland, have witnessed our growth and vibrancy. We've observed an incredible increase in homes, families, and businesses that make up our little corner of the world. Redland, in its expansion, has proven to be a place cherished by so many, with numerous families choosing to move here for the community's unique offering. However, while we continue to flourish, we remain part of the larger Wetumpka area, a designation that has undoubtedly impacted our ability to keep our growth within our community.

The tax dollars generated from our thriving community are urgently needed here. Our children need a local high school, which supports the strong emphasis we place on education and the future of our young people. Our taxes could help fund a high school within our borders, circumventing the need for our children to travel distances for their learning. Furthermore, we endeavor to keep our children’s sports and activities rooted firmly within Redland, reinforcing the sense of community that makes us unique.

We are Redland, proud and distinctive, a rapidly growing community with specific needs and aspirations. Recognizing Redland as an independent township, separate from Wetumpka, will allow us to thrive and flourish as per our community's needs, fostering a greater sense of unity and identity.

By signing this petition, you are not just advocating for geographical boundaries; you are endorsing a stronger, more prosperous future for Redland. We urge each one of you to join in support of our cause. Show the decision makers that Redland is more than an addendum to Wetumpka. It's a home, a community, and deserves to be recognized as such. Sign this petition today and move us one step closer to establishing Redland as an independent township.
