Great News on Cannon Ridge Historic Events Park.
Great News!!!
First, I want to thank everyone that emailed and showed up at meetings. Your support is helping to drive the decision makers in the right direction.
The Stafford Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission Endorsed the former Cannon Ridge Golf Course to be designated as a Park in the Comprehensive Plan!!!
That makes two endorsements, on September 9th the Stafford Planning Commission endorsed the Park designation. The Comprehensive Plan will now go to the Board of Supervisors on October 7th for them to review and vote to send it to Public Hearing.
The Stafford Comprehensive Plan is a recommendation and wish list on how we want the County to be developed. The landowner still can develop the property to any by-right use that is currently allowed, but it does put roadblocks in place to rezone the land for residential or other uses.
Designating the former Cannon Ridge Golf Course as a Park in the Comprehensive Plan doesn't cost taxpayers any money. It's the first step in negotiations and opens the door for Proffer funding, State and Federal grants and fundraising options.
Save the Date of October 7th to attend the Supervisor meeting.
I will be making a 3-minute presentation and need support from the Audience! Anyone that wants to speak will have 3-minutes, but just being there would be Support Enough!

Please email the Stafford Board of Supervisors to let them know you support a Park at Cannon Ridge. Stating the election district or zip code you are in is helpful, but not necessary.
