Rally for Park and Trails on November 19th at 6:30 pm at the Board of Supervisors meeting.
Stafford has an opportunity to create a Historic Events Park and a Riverwalk Trail that would include the showcasing of over 50 Historic sites including a Beautiful Waterfall.
The Trail could be promoted as "America's most Historic Trail" with signs on I-95.
The events park can host the Virginia Rennaissance Faire, Equestrian activities, the Agricultural Fair, Chili cookoffs, Civil War reenactors, Car shows, Cross country running events, Mountain bike events, Hayrides, Festivals of lights and many other events all year long.
Over 6,000 people support the establishment of a Regional Park on the site of the former Cannon Ridge Golf Course and construction of the Cannon Ridge to Ferry Farm Historic River Walk and Waterfall Trails (America's most Historic Trail.
The 7 miles of existing paved golf cart trails and the 10 miles of 18th/19th century road beds will showcase the most significant collection of Native American, Colonial and Civil War historic sites in the Nation.
The trail would go by a Beautiful Natural Waterfall, dozens of Historic sites such as Hunter's Iron Works, the site of the Civil War Mud March, Hunter's Island, Rappahannock Canal locks, Belmont, Chatham Manor, Embrey Dam, the Moncure Conway House, the Trail to Freedom (Underground Railroad), the Historic Port of Falmouth, many Native American Camps, Civil War emplacements, Civil War Balloon launch and Ferry Farm where George Washington is fabled to have Chopped down his father's Cherry Tree and threw the Silver dollar across the river.
People can speak for up to 3 minutes at the public comment period at the 6:30 pm meeting, but not everyone has to speak. Just showing up to support the speakers is enough to show your support!
