Rally for Stafford Parks at the Board of Supervisors meeting!

Come on out to let the Supervisors know we want more Parks and Entertainment choices in Stafford County!

Stafford citizens have been Demanding more entertainment choices for years. They want more things to do in Stafford, so they don't have to drive to other localities to spend their money.

Come out to support the Parks you want to see, whether it's a new destination playground with splash pads, a new Recreation Center or a new Historic Events Park with Trails.

I will be presenting the Supervisors with over 5,500 signatures in support of the establishment of a Regional Park on the site of the former Cannon Ridge Golf Course and construction of the Cannon Ridge to Ferry Farm Historic River Walk and Waterfall Trails.

The 7 miles of existing paved golf cart trails and the 10 miles of 18th/19th century road beds will showcase the most significant collection of Native American, Colonial and Civil War historic sites in the Nation. 

The trail would go by a Beautiful Natural Waterfall, dozens of Historic sites such as Hunter's Iron Works, the site of the Civil War Mud March, Hunter's Island, Rappahannock Canal locks, Belmont, Chatham Manor, Embrey Dam, the Moncure Conway House, the Trail to Freedom (Underground Railroad), the Historic Port of Falmouth, many Native American Camps, Civil War emplacements, Civil War Balloon launch and Ferry Farm where George Washington is fabled to have Chopped down his father's Cherry Tree and threw the Silver dollar across the river.

The proposed new park has space for Stafford to create an events Park that can host the Virginia Renaissance Faire and many other events all year long.

People can speak for up to 3 minutes at the public comment period at the 7:00 pm meeting, but not everyone has to speak. Just showing up to support the speakers is enough to show your support!
