Why this petition matters

Started by Matt Moneymaker

October 20 should be declared "Sasquatch Awareness Day" in both the USA and Canada.

Why October 20th? :  The famous Patterson-Gimlin footage (now recognized as legitimate film footage by scientists who study the subject) was obtained on October 20, 1967.

Sasquatches are real animals. They are very intelligent creatures that pose no threat to humans. They are rare and nocturnal, but have a wide geographic range. They are likely a species of giant Asian ape that was thought to be extinct. Thousands of people see these creatures every year in North America and certain other parts of the world (mostly in Asia).

On Sasquatch Awareness Day teachers in K-12 classes are encouraged to show one of the classic documentaries on the subject, or discuss its long history in the USA and Canada.

Adults are encouraged to either plan a solo hike or go with an organized group to an area where sightings have been reported.

Eyewitnesses who have never told their encounter story publicly should record themselves (prior to October 20) telling their story in detail and indicating where it happened. Their videos should be posted to social media on October 20th.
