As a former director of the Sarasota Sky Pilots Disc Golf Club for five years, and as a fervent player of this rapidly growing sport, I have firsthand experience in the joy and camaraderie this game brings to Sarasota community. However, there's an evident lack of disc golf courses in our area, which hinders the growth of our local sporting community. The undersized provision directly contradicts with the rising interest: according to the Professional Disc Golf Association, the number of players has surged by more than 200% in the past five years (PDGA, 2021). Potter Park presents an excellent opportunity for establishing a new course and to demonstrate our commitment to inclusive and accessible sports.

Thus, we appeal to local authorities and all interested parties to support the establishment of more disc golf courses in Sarasota, starting with Potter Park. The establishment of a new course will not only enhance community cohesion but also promote an active lifestyle among the citizens. Let's create more spaces for disc golf in Sarasota and champion the continued growth of this exciting sport.
