As animal welfare advocates, We all have worked tirelessly to improve the condition of community cats. These cats are often left ignored and unwanted, a plight that resonates deeply with me and many others. Not only have I personally fostered and mourned sick kittens left to die outside, but I have also welcomed un adoptable feral cats into my own home. This dedication aligns with the path of Chris, who devoted his life to the Happy Cat Sanctuary, losing his life for the welfare of animals. His sacrifice and commitment have inspired this petition to establish March 31 as a dedicated 'Chris and Cats Day'. 

The creation of this nationwide holiday would honor the memory of Chris and the worthy cause Happy Cat Sanctuary represents. More importantly, this day would instigate a nationwide initiative to improve the lives of unwanted feral cats in local communities by encouraging people everywhere to practically assist and care for them. It is a fact that countless homeless cats desperately need this care. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) estimates that approximately 1.5 million animals are euthanized in U.S. animal shelters each year. The majority of these are cats.
