Establish Local Gaming Servers in South Africa

The Issue

(Please note that updates on the petition will be given on my Twitch <--Click here to get updates)

As a Twitch streamer, whose livelihood depends largely on online gaming, the lack of local gaming servers in South Africa has profound implications on my financial stability and career growth. My story is one attuned to the struggles of countless South African gamers. We suffer high ping, a challenge that not only compromises game performance but also hampers the overall gaming experience.

In recent years, gaming has grown exponentially in South Africa. According to data from Statista, South Africa's video gaming market was valued at over 4.6 billion Rand in 2020, an increase of 65% from 2018. However, the infrastructure hasn't kept pace with this burgeoning interest. Despite the thriving landscape, we lack local servers, forcing us to connect to distant servers, which results in high latency.

The absence of local gaming servers is a hurdle for professional gamers like myself where performance is critical. As streaming platforms like Twitch continue to provide a crucial source of income to thousands of South Africans amidst economic challenges, it is paramount that we address this issue.

We urge gaming companies to invest in local gaming servers in South Africa. Doing so will not only enhance the gaming experience but also support the growth of the pro-gaming community and its associated economies. Please support South African gamers struggling with high ping and sign this petition. Let us have our voices heard and make a change towards securing our gaming future in South Africa.
