Establish immediate mobile court for justice
The Issue
My personal friend was victimized in a tragic and distressing manner. After withdrawing money from DFCU Bank-Lugogo, she was followed by a notorious boda boda gang, brutally assaulted, and robbed of UGX 4.5 million. This is not an isolated incident; it is a harrowing reality that many face on the streets of Uganda. If we do not act now, today it's Sidney, tomorrow it could be any one of us.
The growing impunity and lawlessness on our streets call for urgent and decisive action. Though we diligently report these incidents to the authorities, justice remains elusive. We cannot afford to remain silent spectators as crime perpetuates unchecked, casting a shadow over our daily lives.
To address this pressing issue, we propose the implementation of mobile courts that can move swiftly to areas with high crime rates, offering immediate access to justice. These courts would be equipped to handle minor offenses quickly, deterring criminals and ensuring that justice is neither delayed nor denied.
Mobile courts have been successfully implemented in other regions to address similar challenges. For example, Nigeria introduced mobile courts to enforce COVID-19 regulations, and saw an improvement in compliance and lawfulness.
We urge the authorities to prioritize the safety and security of its citizens. By setting up mobile courts, we can restore faith in the justice system, deter criminal activity, and protect the rights and properties of individuals.
Sign this petition to demand the establishment of mobile courts for justice—ensuring that victims receive timely resolution and that offenders are held accountable. Together, we can champion a safer and more just community for all.
