Establish: Healthline, a platform enabling accessible healthcare to all
The Issue
Healthcare in the Philippines, now facing the pandemic, needs a more cohesive system to serve its citizens suitably according to need. A platform, specifically, a facebook page where citizens of San Fernando can consult about health-related concerns is an effective response to the problem at hand, at least in the local sector.
Non-COVID-19 related health conditions subsequent to the very disease, are arising along with the increase of mortality rate. With the record, still, a considerable amount of health concerns remain unreported.
Factors that hinder people from seeking medical help are:
- The risk of contracting the virus upon transportation from home to health care facility
- Inconvenience of consultation: Medical requirements i.e. swab test, and the maldistribution of priorities - as non-emergent cases are less attended due to COVID-19; makes the thought of consultation unappealing.
- Financial incapability to access suitable healthcare services
- Social constraints: Having a health problem, even unrelated to the virus, tends to be frowned upon.
ABOUT THE PROJECT'S CONCEPT:
This project's concept "Healthline" is a gesture of suggestion to the local government to have a platform that is free and accessible to the public - a facebook page with healthcare professionals and certified physicians as contributors and active administrators that will respond to queries, consultations, and health-related concerns and cases that need an active response.
The said facebook page will be the main form of communication along with alternatives, and more ways to communicate. There will be listed hotline numbers, contact information, and serviceable addresses where people can consult.
The transactions and consultations will be made through video, audio, and line communication at the comfort of their home. Referrals, counsellings, scheduled check-ups, examinations, and further healthcare responses will be professionally conducted with set rules and protocols.
The execution of this project will make the process of consultation and addressing of health concerns much more approachable and comfortable.
It will make the fragmented healthcare system more regulated, cohesive, and adequate - in concern to the local public health sector.
