As a concerned citizen, I have felt increasingly frustrated and overlooked by our political system. It seems as if there are ever-growing forces leading non-citizens to our shores specifically to vote in our elections and be counted in our census which in turn determines the allocation of delegates. With the Save Act having passed the House only to be rejected in the Senate, it is now more critical than ever for us to stand up and push our representatives to act in the best interest of our democracy. We must establish clear voting and census guidelines to explicitly exclude non-citizens. This is not a matter of discrimination or exclusion, rather it's about preserving the integrity of our democratic processes. As evidenced by the Electoral Integrity Project's 2020 report, out of 167 countries, the US ranked 57th in electoral integrity, including 91st in voting process fairness. Let's preserve our constitutional right to fair election processes and demand our representatives to address this issue urgently.
