Ashlyn Bowman, a vibrant young woman, tragically lost her life in Edgewater, FL in 2016, at only 17 years old. Despite efforts, her case went cold and has remained unresolved. The Ashlyn Bowman Foundation, set up in her honor, managed to reopen the case in September 2024 through a previous Change.org petition. Unfortunately, progress has been limited. Ashlyn's story is not just a loss; it is a rallying cry against teen drug addiction. We can honor her by transforming her tragedy into hope for others. We propose to establish Ashlyn Bowman Remembrance Day on July 8th in Volusia County. A day not only to remember Ashlyn but also to take action against the issue that took her away too soon, teen drug addiction. This day will feature speeches from those affected in the community and action towards democratizing resources for anti-drug initiatives. In retrospect, our mission carries a heavy emotional weight but also bears a light of change. This is more than a tribute to Ashlyn; it's a move towards justice and prevention.
