Establish and Expand Johns Creek Community Garden

Establish and Expand Johns Creek Community Garden
The Issue
Hi neighbors,
Did you know that Johns Creek has a community garden where individual plots can be rented? Unfortunately, the demand for plots is greater than the number available. Earlier this year, my mom and I were disappointed when we were not successful in the lottery for a plot.
Community gardens have a positive impact on residents. They give people access to healthy food. In addition, communal gardens bring people together and foster a stronger sense of community. They reduce stress, improve mental health, and encourage physical activity. Finally, community gardens help the environment by supporting pollinators like bees, improving green space, and making Johns Creek more beautiful.
Alpharetta has had a tremendous amount of success with their community garden. It provides educational activities for local elementary schools and scout troops. The garden donates hundreds of pounds of vegetables each year to North Fulton Community Charities. The National Wildlife Federation has certified Alpharetta’s garden as a wildlife refuge. There is a blueprint for a successful community garden that is available to John’s Creek.
Please sign this petition asking the Johns Creek City Council to consider establishing and/or expanding community garden space at city parks including Newtown and Cauley Creek.
Thank you!
