The Issue

We live in the Walnut Beach neighborhood, and every day we witness an alarming number of near accidents on our streets. Cars and motorcycles alike treat our residential area as a no-speed zone, creating a hazardous environment for everyone, especially pedestrians. It's heartbreaking and terrifying to see individuals, including small children and parents with strollers, almost getting hit because of reckless speeding.

Our neighborhood deserves to be safe, and it is imperative that immediate action is taken to address this growing concern. We propose the establishment and strict enforcement of speed limits that will ensure drivers respect the safety of all roadway users. Specific areas require urgent attention, such as the need for all-way stop signs at the intersection of Joy Road and E Broadway, where accidents are a constant threat due to an absence of proper traffic controls.

Moreover, installing speed control devices between Naugatuck Ave and Viscount can significantly reduce the risk of speeding incidents. These measures are not only vital for enhancing road safety but also for promoting a peaceful and community-friendly environment.

We present to you this petition as concerned residents who care deeply about the safety and well-being of our neighbors. Let us make our voices heard and advocate for the safety of everyone who navigates our streets. Please sign this petition to urge local authorities to establish and enforce necessary speed limits and safety measures in the Walnut Beach neighborhood. Together, we can make our community a safer place for all.
