Establish an LGBTIQA+ Advisory Group in Brimbank

Establish an LGBTIQA+ Advisory Group in Brimbank
The issue
Approximately 8,700 residents in Brimbank identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer or asexual (LGBTIQA+).
But LGBTIQA+ people continue to experience discrimination and marginalisation.
We know that harassment and discrimination have a negative impact on LGBTIQA+ people’s mental and physical health and wellbeing.
To address this, many Victorian councils have a working group or advisory committee specific to the LGBTIQA+ community, but Brimbank Council don't.
Brimbank Council have committed to increase LGBTIQA+ community representation on Council committees and working groups to ensure their voices are amplified. so now it's time to follow through on that commitment.
We need Brimbank Council to establish an LGBTIQA+ Community Advisory Committee to recognise the specific concerns and needs of the LGBTIQA+ community and to ensure its services are accessible and inclusive.
