The Issue

In Gainesboro, Tennessee, local animal lovers and rescuers are reaching a breaking point. With no formal animal shelter in place, we are overwhelmed, witnessing heart-wrenching scenes of abused and neglected animals every day. I've personally taken in countless animals found starving, malnourished to the brink of starvation, and even some that have been cruelly shot in their desperate attempt to find food. Our community is running out of room and resources to care for these innocent lives.

This is a plea for help — an urgent call to establish a dedicated animal shelter in Gainesboro, TN. The absence of this facility has left hundreds of animals to fend for themselves on the streets, enduring abuse, neglect, and even untimely deaths. A shelter will not only provide a safe haven for these animals but also give them a chance at finding loving homes. Further, a local shelter can offer community education programs to promote responsible pet ownership and prevention of animal cruelty.

According to the ASPCA, approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year. In communities like ours, where such facilities are absent, local citizens bear the burden of caring for these animals, often without the necessary resources. It's time to change this.

Our community can no longer stand by and watch these vulnerable creatures suffer. By signing this petition, you support the creation of an animal shelter in Gainesboro. Together, we can make a significant difference, giving these animals a second chance at life and helping to foster a community where compassion and care for all living beings is a priority. Please sign this petition to support the establishment of an animal shelter in our town.
