Karenlynn Stracher or KL the Wildlife Rehabilitator and countless others like her in our community have been tirelessly working to ensure the survival of wildlife in our area. These dedicated individuals work around the clock, out of their own pockets, to help both people and animals coexist peacefully. However, they need more than just passion to continue their crucial work - they need a facility and funding.

Nassau County is home to a diverse range of wildlife species that are integral parts of our ecosystem. Despite this biodiversity, there is currently no dedicated wildlife rescue or rehabilitation center within county limits. This lack leaves many animals vulnerable and places an undue burden on independent rehabbers like KL.

The establishment of such a center would not only provide much-needed support for these selfless individuals but also contribute significantly towards preserving local biodiversity. It would serve as an educational hub for residents about local fauna while promoting peaceful coexistence between humans and animals.

We urge our local government officials - at city, county, or state level - to recognize this urgent need for a Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Center in Nassau County. By providing funding for this initiative, you will be supporting not just the wildlife but also your constituents who care deeply about animal welfare.
