« Establish a Two-Term Limit for Toronto City Council »
The Issue
I’m running because I’m the voice of the voiceless, and because I hate social injustice. Politics should be about service, not self-preservation. Yet incumbent councillors leverage their power and relationships to secure endorsements and hold their seats — some for 20, 30, even 40 years. That’s not unusual, it’s unacceptable.
Unlike senators, who must retire at 75, our councillors face no mandatory renewal — even though federal and provincial governments regularly reshuffle cabinet, because staying too long disconnects leaders from the people who elected them.
It’s no coincidence voter turnout is so low: when the same people hold power for decades, residents stop believing their vote matters.
I’m asking Toronto City Council to adopt a two-term limit, and to ask Ontario to amend the law to allow it.
My pledge: if elected, I won’t serve more than two terms, and I’ll give 50% of my salary to support young entrepreneurs.
We enter politics to serve — not to serve ourselves.
Sign this petition to give every voice an equal chance — not just the ones who’ve already held power for decades.
