Our address shouldn't determine our right to life. With a population of more than 2 million people, Queens has only three trauma centers serving adults. And in Far Rockaway, the southernmost part of Queens, the closest facility is almost 10 miles away! NYC Councilwoman Brooks-Powers, Dr. Mitchell Katz, and the Far Rockaway Trauma and Health Access Task Force are raising awareness about the urgent need for a trauma center in Far Rockaway. The NYC Council called on the Administration to fully fund a level 1 or 2 trauma facility in their preliminary budget, but now we need the Mayor to act!

Without fast access to proper healthcare, people have lost their lives in our community, and the overall quality of life suffers. We must address this disparity and ensure all residents have timely access to critical medical services.
