As a resident of the small community of West Jefferson on State Route 15, just outside of Montpelier, OH, my safety and that of our neighbors is of the utmost priority. However, the current severe storm/tornado warning system is insufficient. The only siren, positioned two miles away, is faint and barely audible when outdoors. This, to not only myself but also to our small population, seems neglectful and unfair.

Severe weather, particularly tornadoes, pose a significant risk and demand rapid response. According to data from the National Weather Service, Ohio ranked 15th in the U.S. for the most tornadoes in 2020. This puts us in the striking distance of a natural disaster that could devastate our community without proper warning.

The provision of a tornado warning system closer to our homes on State Route 15 will help ensure that we are adequately alarmed in case of extreme weather conditions. It's not just about safety - it's about fairness and responsibility too.
