As an avid lover of tequila, I've noticed a recurring theme: tequila, a symbol of the cultural heritage of millions of people, is missing from the current emoji selection. It’s an incongruity I've identified, and I'm sure I'm not alone. Considering tequila's significant contribution to global spirits consumption, this gap feels even more profound. 

Notably, the Unicode Consortium has approved emojis representing other alcoholic beverages including wine, beer, champagne, whiskey, martinis, rum, and even sake. Yet, there is no tequila emoji. This omission paints an incomplete representation of the rich cultural diversity we have globally.

As per Statista, tequila accounts for approximately 0.87% of the total spirits market volume worldwide, an industry forecast to realize a 1.7% annual growth rate (CAGR 2021-2025). The International Wines and Spirits Record identifies tequila as one of the fastest-growing spirits in the global marketplace. This clearly illustrates the popularity and affection for the drink around the globe, validating the demand for its representation in our digital expressions.

We are urging the Unicode Consortium to rectify this omission and enrich our digital language by including a tequila emoji. Apart from being a nice touch for tequila lovers, it would serve as a nod to the vibrant culture of Mexico and other communities where tequila holds a significant cultural relevance.
