As a concerned parent whose daughter attends Cheyenne Classical Academy on Ridge Road, safety is my primary concern. Every day, I witness heavy and fast-paced traffic near the school, which poses a potential risk to our children. Yet, bafflingly, this road in Cheyenne has not been designated as a school zone, even though there is a designated school zone just a few blocks south of our school. 

This is not merely a matter of my personal worry; this is an issue impacting the security and welfare of all children attending this academy. There are approximately 300 cars passing during the peak hours (8-9 AM and 3-4 PM) when the children commute to/from school. Given that, it's distressing to know that the average speed of vehicles is approximately 20% higher than what is typically allowed in school zones.

The City of Cheyenne, it is negligent not to acknowledge this issue. Designating a school zone can lower speed limits in crucial areas, introduce safer crosswalks, and ultimately reduce the risk of traffic accidents involving our children. Our children's wellbeing and peace of mind as parents ride on this change.

The risks are too high, the solution straightforward, we need that school zone. Sign this petition to urge the City of Cheyenne to define a school zone for Cheyenne Classical Academy on Ridge Road. Together, we can secure a safer path for our children.
