We are a group of students who, by expressing our identities as Therians, Furries, Alter-humans, and members of the LGBTQ+ community, have been subjected to countless instances of bullying. This personal narrative is not isolated. A study by the National Survey on LGBTQ Youth Mental Health 2021 shows that 75% of LGBTQ+ youth reported they experienced discrimination based on their sexual orientation and/or gender identity (The Trevor Project). It's high time that our needs are heard and a safe educational environment is established, designed specifically to encourage and support our unique identities.

An inclusive school for Therians, Furries, Alter-humans, LGBTQ+ and others who commonly face similar experiences can have a significant positive impact on mental health and well-being. Such a setup would facilitate a safe and inclusive environment, fostering intellectual growth devoid of the fear of stigmatization or bullying.

We call on our local Department of Education to recognize the need for such a school and take action to ensure we can receive quality education free from discrimination.
