Establish a Police Complaints Authority in Tamilnadu as Mandated by the Supreme Court

The Issue

As a concerned resident of Tamilnadu, I repeatedly and regularly encounter our law forces failing us. Despite they being taught the law with our tax money and knowing their duty, there are numerous cases of police personnel not discharging their obligations to the common man. They use the law/position for their own benefit, neglect their work, and ignore complaints unless they come with the recommendation of influential people. They expect us to beg and shiver and shake to take our complaints and if we question their behavior, they ignore our complaint. People should fear the law not these fellows and they can show their might with the law breakers but they don't do that rather they generally mess with the victims since they are criminal themselves .

We, as citizens, are frustrated with the intimidation, arrogance, and unduly autocratic attitude of those who are supposed to protect and serve us. Police harassment, high handedness and dereliction of duty are at an all time high and increasing day by day. This issue has impacted not only me, but countless others, as we are forced to run to and from the police station, often without resolution. Is it possible to consult with lawyers for every complaint and are lawyers cheap and trustworthy?

Despite the Supreme Court order in September 2006, Tamilnadu still does not have a Police Complaints Authority. This is a crucial body, meant to address misconduct and abuse of power. It is high time this is addressed, and we establish a tangible solution to keep the police force in check and save the common man. Let's ensure no police personnel are part of the PCA deciding committee, to avoid any biases or conflicts of interest.

In doing this, we can cultivate an environment where everyone – regardless of their status or influence or knowledge – has equal access to justice at the police stations itself instead of overwhelming the already overburdened courts. We can ensure that our tax money equitably compensates the work done by our law enforcers, and create a state, moreover, a country that is a fair and just place to live.

To make this happen, we need your help. Please sign this petition to establish the much-needed Police Complaints Authority in Tamilnadu which will help to bell this cat and end this menace before it spirals out of control and infests our society. If necessary this petition will be submitted to the President for implementation.

Kindly share as much as possible for maximum reach

Thank you and very grateful for your support.
