My name is Christina Wilson, and I am a resident of Morehouse Parish. This petition is deeply personal to me as I witness the plight of neglected and abandoned animals in our community daily. Our parish does not have an animal shelter where these helpless creatures can find refuge, care, and a chance at survival. They are left to fend for themselves, which is simply unjust.

Our beloved pets are more than just animals; they are part of our families. Yet in Morehouse Parish alone, countless animals are dumped or neglected every year with nowhere safe to go. As residents of this parish, we must be their voice and advocate for their rights.

I am calling on my fellow residents to stand with me as we appeal to the Police Jury, our Mayor, and Sheriff's Office. We need them to recognize this urgent issue that affects us all directly or indirectly.

We urge the Police Jury - who serve us as people of this parish - to take action on behalf of these defenseless creatures who cannot speak for themselves. It's time we locate a suitable building where an animal shelter can be established.

Together we can make a difference by providing these innocent lives with safety and care they deserve while promoting responsible pet ownership within our community.
