Establish a No-Kill Animal Shelter in Donna, Texas

Establish a No-Kill Animal Shelter in Donna, Texas
The Issue
I am a resident of Donna, Texas and currently care for eight dogs that were abandoned because local shelters would not accept them due to their origin from other cities. The struggle of managing this large number of dogs is immense, yet the alternative - leaving these innocent creatures without a home - is unthinkable.
Animal abandonment rates are at an all-time high. According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), approximately 6.5 million companion animals enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year, many from areas outside their immediate vicinity due to lack of local resources and facilities.
The city of Donna needs its own no-kill shelter; one that accepts animals regardless of where they come from and gives them a chance at life instead of turning them away or worse, euthanizing them. A no-kill shelter in our city would not only provide refuge for these innocent beings but also alleviate the burden on citizens who find themselves providing makeshift homes for abandoned pets.
A shelter reduces the risk of dogs on the road causing problems by providing a safe haven for stray or abandoned dogs, thereby reducing their chances of wandering onto roads. Shelters also typically offer adoption services, spaying/neutering programs, and education on responsible pet ownership, further decreasing the likelihood of dogs causing issues on the road.
Every animal deserves a roof over its head and an opportunity to live out its life with dignity and love. It's time we take action as a community in Donna, Texas and advocate for those who cannot speak up for themselves.
Please sign this petition if you believe in giving all animals a fair chance at life by establishing a no-kill animal shelter in our beloved city.
