I take immense pride in our town, Laredo. However, I have always been conscious of a missing ingredient: a vibrant selection of entertainment facilities. We need a fresh breath of air, we need something new, we need another entertainment venue. Specifically, an additional movie theater like Regal, AMC, or Cinemark.

In the current scenario, Laredo has only two movie theaters. With a population of over 260,000 (US Census Bureau), it's apparent that these two outlets fail to adequately meet the entertainment demands of our residents. Moreover, a new movie theater isn't just about entertainment; it's about opportunities - from jobs to revitalizing the local economy.

A study in California found that a single 9-screen movie theater created 58 direct employments and generated over $1.1 million in fiscal revenue annually (LAEDC). We can imagine similar, if not greater, benefits for our community.

This petition aims to make our voices heard and draw the attention of major entertainment venue chains like Regal, AMC, and Cinemark to consider Laredo as their next location.
