I am an individual deeply affected by the heartbreaking sight of dogs and cats being overbred, underfed, dumped like they're garbage, and euthanized in Australia. It is a devastating reality that many of us witness daily. The time has come to take action against this cruelty.

We are calling on the government to establish a national database for individuals who abandon, neglect or abuse their pets. This would serve as a deterrent and ensure that these individuals cannot continue to harm animals with impunity.

Furthermore, we urge the government to heavily regulate domestic pet breeders. Currently, there are no strict regulations in place which allows unethical breeders to exploit animals for profit without any repercussions.

Gumtree are largely responsible for allowing the selling and giving away of pets. This needs to stop. We urge gumtree to cease the trading of pets online.
