Being a nation renowned for our hearty breakfasts, we deserve to have a dedicated day to celebrate this staple of British culture: Bacon and Sausage. As an enthusiastic advocate of British cuisine, I propose that we establish a 'National Bacon and Sausage Day'.

In this country, we're proud of our heritage - from our royals to our rugged landscapes, from our love for tea to our crunchy bacon and juicy sausages. Bacon and sausage are essential components of the quintessential English breakfast, a dish beloved not just in Britain, but around the world. According to a report by AHDB Pork, a division of the UK's Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board, sausages and bacon make a significant contribution to our economy, with around 2 million tons of pig meat eaten annually in the UK (AHDB Pork, 2017).

Wouldn't it be fitting then, to honor these breakfast heroes, by dedicating a day to relish and celebrate them? Let's spice up our calendar by stamping a day that brings attention to the foods we hold dear in our nation.
