Establish a Local Cricket Field with Turf Nets and Storage in Dr. Phillips

Establish a Local Cricket Field with Turf Nets and Storage in Dr. Phillips
The Issue
We are residents of Dr. Phillips, FL, and are passionate about cricket as a sport.
Our community hosts numerous aspiring cricketers in a wide range of age groups, and we have many kids and adults actively participating in cricket leagues throughout Florida. Some participate at the National level. The lack of an easily accessible, high-quality cricket field is impeding our growth in the sport and possibly the emergence of future cricket stars to help win the World Cup from our locality.
The nearest cricket field to our community is a 45-minute drive away. That field is under-maintained and the drive is a deterrent for practice on busy days. We need a cricket field within our locality—one that is equipped with turf cricket nets and a storage facility so regular practices can happen.
Studies indicate that the availability of local sports facilities has a significant impact on participation rates (source: World Health Organization). Therefore, a local cricket field will potentially lead to increased participation in the sport, build a stronger community, and help make cricket and sports more popular since Dr. Phillips is in a very central location. People from surrounding areas like Windermere, Winter Garden, and Kissimmee could take advantage of the facility.
With the T20 World Cup that happened in North America, cricket has gained some support, but there still isn't enough. Getting a well-maintained cricket field will not only create future cricket stars, it will also help the United States achieve another goal medal in the next LA Olympics.
We request a local cricket facility that will benefit the current cricket enthusiasts and the generations to come. Let's bring cricket to Dr. Phillips - for the love of the game, the growth of our community, and the future of the sport in our town. Sign this petition to support our appeal for a local cricket field with turf nets and a storage facility in Dr. Phillips.
