Establish a Global Human Knowledge Archive to Preserve Humanity’s Collective Knowledge
The Issue
Humanity is approaching a critical point in the history of knowledge. Artificial Intelligence (AI) models, which increasingly rely on vast amounts of human-generated content, are approaching “peak data.” Once human content is exhausted, AI risks entering a feedback loop, training on AI-generated material rather than authentic human knowledge. This threatens the originality, accuracy, and diversity of information for future generations.
To address this urgent challenge, we call for the creation of a Global Human Knowledge Archive (GHKA):
The Mission:
Preserve human-generated content permanently, including books, research, articles, blogs, oral histories, multimedia, and open-source code.
Ensure content is immutable and verifiable, protecting it from alteration or AI overwriting.
Make this knowledge accessible to researchers, educators, and future AI models, clearly labeled as human-generated.
Proposed Implementation:
Use distributed and decentralized storage technologies (e.g., IPFS, Arweave, Filecoin) combined with cloud redundancy.
Partner with global libraries, universities, and technology companies to provide storage, expertise, and funding.
Encourage each nation to contribute cultural, historical, and scientific content to the archive.
Maintain transparency, accessibility, and ethical oversight for AI use of the archive.
Why It Matters:
Prevents loss of humanity’s original knowledge in the age of AI.
Preserves cultural, scientific, and historical diversity.
Ensures AI development continues without eroding the quality of human knowledge.
We urge UNESCO, the UN, global tech organizations, and governments worldwide to take immediate action. Humanity’s knowledge is finite; we must safeguard it now.
Sign this petition to help create a permanent, protected, and global archive of human knowledge before it’s too late.
