Lucas County Dog Pound in Lucas County, OH needs to reckon with a pressing issue: inadequate leadership and poor handling of our community canines.

The need for a structured advisory board (made up of animal advocates, local veterinarians, rescue directors, and community members) is undeniable. This petition strongly advocates for the creation of such a board by the Lucas County commissioners. The formation of this board would serve dual purposes - improving the quality of care for dogs, improving customer service as well as community interaction. It would also help ensure accurate record keeping, humane treatment of animals, and fair and equal treatment of dogs, people and partner organizations. 

This is not only about betterment of animal welfare, but about enhancing the quality of life. By effectively addressing this issue, Lucas County Canine Care and Control can begin to move towards a positive image in our community again, and be a place where families want to come to find their new best friend.
