Blessington recently got a newly developed park, an oasis for citizens to enjoy leisure activities. However, the plan for this park overlooked the need for a dedicated area for our four-legged friends – dogs.

In Ireland approximately one in four households care for at least one dog. In Blessington itself, many households are home to at least one dog. As residents of Blessington, we understand and accentuate the importance of physical exercise and socialization opportunities for dogs. A dedicated dog park within the community park would contribute significantly to the mental and physical health of our dogs, providing them a secure and conducive environment for their activities. Dogs, just like humans, require physical exercise, social interactions, and a place to play and run. Having a dedicated dog park can also potentially reduce the number of loose dogs and dog-related incidents in our area.

These spaces are not merely about accommodating dogs, but also about building stronger communities that value all their residents, regardless of species. Signing this petition means you support the need for a dedicated dog park in the new Community Park.

We call upon the decision-makers to consider our request seriously and prioritize it in the parks future planning and development.

Please sign the petition to ensure our furry friends are not forgotten.
