Establish a Dedicated Dog Park in Cloquet, MN

The Issue

My wife and I are proud parents of two friendly, energetic dogs. They are more than just pets; they're part of our family. Like any family members, they long for social interaction - particularly with other dogs. However, in our town of Cloquet, MN, there's no dedicated space where our furry friends can play and interact freely.

A dog park is not just a luxury; it's a necessity for the well-being of our canine companions. According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), dog parks provide an avenue for exercise and socialization which are crucial aspects of a dog’s life that contribute to their overall health and happiness.

Moreover, such spaces also foster community among pet owners and promote responsible pet ownership. The Trust for Public Land states that cities with dog parks have higher rates of registered dogs which means more vaccinations and less risk from stray animals.

We believe establishing a dedicated dog park in Cloquet will greatly enhance the quality of life not only for our beloved pets but also for us as pet owners. It will create an environment where we can bond with them while allowing them to engage in natural behaviors within safe boundaries.

We urge the local government officials to consider this proposal seriously. There are several potential locations of city-owned land that would be prime locations, including next to Veterans Park, Pinehurst Park and near the Cloquet ice arena. Let's make Cloquet even more welcoming to its four-legged residents by creating this much-needed space where they can run free under watchful eyes.

Please sign this petition if you agree that every town deserves a place where man’s best friend can be just that – their best selves!
