Dear Muscle Biology Enthusiasts,

I am reaching out to all of you to thank you again for your efforts in helping to create the new Muscle Biology Subgroup at the Biophysical Society (https://www.biophysics.org/subgroups) and to provide you with a few updates!

First, I wanted to let you know that we are off to a great start working on the program for our inaugural symposium and we look forward to welcoming you at the annual meeting of the Biophysical Society in Philadelphia, PA on Saturday February 20th, 2027, from 8:30 am-12:30 pm.

We are also working on exciting programming for a new spotlight on subgroups during the Biophysical Society’s Emerging Science Week, in just a few weeks on Sept 14-19, 2026.  Save the dates and stay tuned for more updates on “Emerging Science and Scientists in Muscle Biology”.

Lastly, to keep building on our momentum within the Biophysical Society, I am happy to announce a Special Issue of the Biophysical Journal, “The Past, Present, and Future of Muscle Biophysics”.  I invite you all to consider contributing to this SI which will serve to welcome our Muscle Biology Community back to the Biophysical Society! Thank you and I hope you can contribute to our Special Issue!

Best regards,

Sam Harris
