The Issue

As a longstanding foster for Martin County Animal Advocates, I can attest first-hand to the overwhelming need for a proper animal shelter in our community. Our few volunteers work tirelessly, but the lack of a comprehensive facility places strain on our resources and impedes our ability to provide adequate services. As such, this petition seeks to solicit official support and funding to build an animal shelter capable of meeting the demands of Martin County.

Martin County’s stray population continues to surge, reflective of a growing community. The absence of a proper shelter puts both stray animals and residents at risk.

Further, having a proper animal shelter would have benefits for our community. It would facilitate reuniting lost pets with their owners, enable efficient adoption processes for stray animals, provide a clean & safe habitat for unclaimed animals, and improve neighborhood safety.

For these reasons, we urge the relevant authorities to prioritize the building of a new, fully-equipped animal shelter in Martin County. Not simply for the welfare of animals who find themselves lost or abandoned, but also for the safety, harmony, and wellbeing of all our citizens. Please sign this petition to support our cause.
