Establish a Community Garden in Prospect Point Park, Lake Hopatcong
The Issue
Prospect Point Park Lawn where we will hopefully turn it into a Paradise Community Garden! Help us share the word to make it a reality!

As a resident of Lake Hopatcong, Jefferson, NJ, I have taken the time to analyze our beloved Prospect Point Park. This park is partially fenced which means it would cost less to fence off an area for a garden space. This would effectively prevent animals from entering and causing any damage.
The lawn space within the park is often empty and requires constant mowing. Instead of this continuous maintenance with little benefit to the community, we propose that this lawn could be better utilized as an ideal space for a community garden.
A community garden at Prospect Point Park would not only provide fresh produce but also serve as common ground for many families who already use the park for recreational activities. It presents an opportunity to learn from each other about gardening techniques and sustainable practices while fostering healthy habits among our children.
Moreover, according to studies by the American Public Health Association (APHA), community gardens can promote physical activity and improve dietary habits through increased fruit and vegetable intake. They also enhance social well-being through strengthening social connections.
Let's transform our underutilized lawn into a thriving hub of communal growth where we can cultivate more than just plants - we cultivate friendships, knowledge sharing, healthier lifestyles, and stronger bonds within our community.
Join us in urging local authorities to establish a Community Garden in Prospect Point Park. Your signature will make all the difference!
