My journey started in high school where I witnessed the harsh realities of life. I watched friends end up in jail or lose their lives tragically due to the actions of others. It is this experience that today pushes me to advocate for the need for a community center in our area specifically for at-risk kids. The vision is to facilitate a haven for these vulnerable children, giving them a place to play, learn, and just be kids. 

Currently, juvenile crime in our area is at an all-time high being fed by factors such as lack of resources and boredom amongst the children. The National Institute of Justice reports that the hours following the end of the school day are the peak hours for juvenile crime. Having a community center could greatly mitigate this by providing an engaging environment where these kids can spend their time constructively.

Our community children are more than statistics, they are the future of the area and a reflection of our community's potential. A community center would provide a proactive countermeasure to juvenile crime rates, ensuring our area's kids have a chance to grow and mature away from destructive influences.
