🇵🇸🇵🇸 Establish a 7-minute prayer segment for Palestine during Jumu'ah 🇵🇸🇵🇸
Le problème
🇵🇸 I remember attending several Friday prayers (Jumu'ah) in Turkiye, France, UK, USA and noticing that, despite the pressing global crises affecting our brothers and sisters around the world, communal prayers often miss addressing these critical issues. No mention of the heart-wrenching suffering of the people in Palestine, Sudan, or the relentless plight of the Uyghurs, the turmoil in Congo, and many others. This absence left a void, an unease in me, that our powerful collective prayers during one of the most sacred hours of the week were not being directed towards those who need it the most right now.
Imagine a Friday prayer where every Muslim community around the world comes together for a unified cause—a 10-minute moment during Jumu'ah dedicated solely to praying for the victims of conflict, occupation, and persecution across the globe. Whether it's during the Khutbah (sermon) or as a communal Dua (supplication), this segment can be a powerful tool for raising awareness and solidarity within our communities.
To create a concerted and synchronized change, I suggest that Islamic centers, Turkiye Diyanet Işleri Bakanlığı, mosques, and leaders establish a mandated, regular 7-minute segment during Friday prayer focused on these prayers. Citing specific ongoing major crises, such as those affecting Palestine, Sudan, and the Uyghurs, can help amplify awareness and empathy among the congregations.
By incorporating this proposal, we can transform our spiritual gatherings into platforms for advocacy and unity—a reminder of our Islamic duty to support and speak out for those in distress. Not only would this align with our values of compassion, but it would demonstrate our unity as a global Ummah in these challenging times. We need to be more vocal about those Genocides.
I urge you to support this initiative. By signing this petition, you are advocating for a vital change in the way our communities engage with global issues during our sacred Friday prayers. Your signature can be a step towards building a more conscious and connected Muslim community worldwide. Please sign the petition and help us turn our prayers into meaningful actions for justice and peace.
