The Issue

Traffic speed has become a growing concern for the residents of Radford Semele, specifically concerning the area where Southam Road enters the village (coming from Ufton).

Currently, the 30mph speed limit is implemented too late, after Canalside Community Food and the new Crown Hill estate - endangering pedestrians who try to walk to school/the local farm and other motorists trying to pull out onto the 40pmh road.

According to the World Health Organisation, a 5% cut in average speed can result in a 30% reduction in the number of fatal traffic accidents. Implementing a 30mph speed limit earlier on Southam Road can therefore significantly improve public safety in our community, reducing the potential risk of accidents and enhancing the overall quality of life for our residents. Why must we wait until there is a lifechanging accident or fatality for this to be taken seriously?

We have taken this to Warwickshire County Council and have struggled to get any recognition at all from WCC Road Safety Team on this issue. This petition is to urge WCC to take this seriously and act on an issue that affects the residents of Radford Semele.
