Essex County Council have created a list of libraries earmarked for potential closure in order to save costs. Sadly, Chigwell library is one of the libraries targeted. 

Chigwell library is an essential part of the Chigwell community and is used and accessible to everyone of all ages. It is used by parents with young toddlers attending story time sessions, school age children learning to read and to access leaning, for teenagers, adults and the oldest members of society.  Chigwell library is an important public place, there is no other public space in Chigwell where people can have a quiet place to read, study or to gain internet access and read the paper. 

Libraries are more than just books, they are a safe public space for everyone for all cultures, ages as well as helping the most vulnerable members of society.

It would be a travesty if Chigwell library were to close.

This petition requests Essex County Council to remove Chigwell library from their current list of libraries targeted for potential closure.
