Today another protected species was spotted beside the bridge, the solitary and rare great white egret! All the vegetation on the right of this photo will disappear if Essex Highways get planning permission.

The solitary and rare great white egret is classified in the UK as Amber under the Birds of Conservation Concern 5: the Red List for Birds (2021). Protected in the UK under the Wildlife and Countryside Act, 1981.
