Petition & Legal Case Update
Over the last few months, this campaign has done something really important.
We’ve taken a problem that was buried in technical reports and made it impossible to ignore.
Here’s what we’ve managed to uncover together:
☠️ We’ve shown that dangerous chemicals, including cancer‑causing substances and heavy metals, are being released into the Mersey and Thornton Brook.
(Essar have, just this week, pleased guilty for hundreds of permit breaches!)
☠️We’ve explained, in plain English, that the “reporting thresholds” aren’t safety limits. They’re just the point where companies have to admit what they’ve put in the water.
☠️ We’ve launched legal action against the Environment Agency as we believe they are failing to regulate properly, and that pressure is already forcing questions that weren’t being asked before.
☠️ We’ve published air pollution data showing just what everyone is breathing in, which completely contradicts the status quo of 'everything is fine'
💪We’ve built a community that refuses to let this be swept under the carpet.
