The SEC needs to reconsider the decision not to allow cheerleaders, dancers and band members on the field of football games. They are ESSENTIAL to the game day experience. Many fans have chosen or have been forced to watch game days from home this year and they should at least get to see their favorite traditions played out. Without these athletes, the traditions do not exist. Not to mention, They have worked for this opportunity for most of their lives and deserve the same opportunities as the football team, coaching staff, referees, oh and the radio and tv personnel that are allowed on the field. They have been tested multiple times for COVID-19 and I am sure they will continue to be. If 20-25% stadium capacity of fans can be in the stadium, the cheerleaders/dancers/band members should be able to do their part. 

If all of these athletes have tested negative for COVID-19, where is the risk? They are willing to wear masks and socially distance when they can but where is the risk when they have all tested negative or better yet already recovered from COVID-19? They have already announced that cheerleaders/dancers/band members will not travel to away games so you only have to worry about the home teams groups. They would be able to spread out more and still get to participate. These athletes are able to socially distance way more than football players so what is the harm? Thousands of High Schools have figured out how to safely allow all athletes to participate in game days so what are we missing? It comes down to effort. I have even seen smaller universities with their cheerleaders/dancers/band on the field. The SEC was a major leader when planning to have a 2020 football season and many other leagues followed suit. But when planning for this football season, the SEC forgot a very ESSENTIAL group that they take for granted and it is time for this to end. It is time for the SEC to step up and lead again but this time for all of the other athletes that have worked so hard for this opportunity. If we're going to let them play, we need to let them all play. LET THE CHEERLEADERS, DANCERS, AND BAND MEMBERS ON THE FIELD!! Let them perform and bring joy to the fans that are watching from home. SEC, trust me, IT JUST MEANS MORE to all of us too.
