When a child is sexually molested by a person who is supposed to be trusted they are more likely not to tell.  The trauma may be kept a secret forever or may be revealed after another traumatic event.  This trauma causes many other factors after the incident (s). Having someone who you trust betray your and most likely your whole families trust has lasting consequences.  IE Drug addiction, alcohol addiction, personality disorders, emotional instability, inability to maintain adult relationships,  etc. 

A pedophile hardly ever has one victim.  Most prey on children their entire lives.  Why would you limit the time that a person can come forward to the state?  This should not be.
