Standing up with a united strong voice for ethical publishing in science and medicine devoid of divisive politicization Today we salute the executives of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology, the American Diabetes Association, the Endocrine Society, and the European Association for the Study of Diabetes, as well as their Journal Editors, for their unambiguous call to dissociate the publishing of medicine and science from the contentious political issues that put obstacles in our way and make it more difficult to achieve our core goals of improving healthcare all over the world. Please see all of their Journal Websites for this joint communication. What can we do going forward? First, please thank these organizations and their executives and editors, wherever possible. It is meaningful for these associations and colleagues and their Journal leadership to learn that this public stand and statement is appreciated. Contact information is provided below. Second, these four leading organizations represent only one small segment of our scientific and health care community. Please reach out to and engage your own society leadership, in whatever discipline of science or medicine or healthcare you find yourself in, and call for your own local, national and international organizations to take up the same issue. Forward them links to the Open Latter for the people of Gaza and the statements from the four societies. We need more academic societies and publishers to consider the issue and make a public stand against politicization of our scientific and medical Journals. We all have lots of options, formats and journals to communicate our data, ideas, and results. Ask yourselves and colleagues, journals, societies, and companies that you interact to think carefully about these issues. There is growing strength and credibility in numbers of voices that are engaged, and it is important for science and the health of our patients that we speak up and remove obstacles that stand in our way of improving the health of millions of human beings all over the world. Please redouble your efforts to contact others, and ask them to get involved and sign our petition. Please consider thanking these associations and societies: Christine Feheley (703) 253-4374 Cfeheley@diabetes.org Brain Carey +49 211 7584690 Brian.Carey@easd.org Aaron Lohr (202) 971-3636 alohr@endocrine.org Glenn Sebold (904) 404-4122 gsebold@aace.com
