My name is Jacob and my family is starting a petition to be able to hopefully keep our beloved German Shepherd (Coco). We have had her for going on 7 years and she is as much of a part of our family as any one of us. She has always been there through thick and thin and is the sweetest dog you could ever imagine. Normally rescued dogs get such a bad name but with her something was different we connected immediately... I would trust her with my life every time and also to defend our family and keep our 4 yr old safe. Last year a lady came running past our house and coco sensed a threat so she did what she was trained to do..... protect!!! Keep in mind there have been plenty of people running by she has never reacted .... and I take her out into public where she plays with kids!!! This time was different she runs out barking at this lady to leave away from our property my wife who was taking her outside at the time called her back...... but before she could get the command out,  the lady moved towards coco and reached out at her.  This signaled defensive instincts and coco bit the lady in one single bite and released to let her know she will protect my wife and daughter outside!!!!!  The lady told the officer she just wants proof of rabies, which she has and is also microchipped, and said it was her fault for moving towards coco and reaching for her. A year later and the woman decides to take us to court over it and just before the cut off of 1 year where it wouldn’t be valid anymore. The lady lied about us receiving a letter stating we had been warned about the vicious nature of our coco ...... I quickly proved this with documention to be a lie under oath...... but now while In process of the summons..... our insurance agency (Erie insurance ) wants to drop us if we do not give up ownership of coco due to her acting in self defense and protecting my wife and child.  I am starting this petition to hopefully convince Erie to see her as family not as a liability!!!!!!!
